your gonna love this,
Evan here, lets get right into it…
The single worst problem we run into when figure
drawing human proportion is foreshortening.
Ya know, when you see an arm or leg pointing
right at you, creating a bizarre looking shape
that doesn’t look like a plain vanilla side view.
I want to show you how easy it really is with these
figure drawing tips. It takes a 3 steps, to get it
right.
- Slow down to increase accuracy
- Ask yourself what animated shape it resembles
- work piece by piece with points and angles
Step 1:
Slow down at first. It may take more than your first try to
begin seeing the human proportion correctly. If you
take your time and enjoy the bizarre and funky shape
that is there, you will be able to get it that much faster.
Step 2:
Isolate the entire space where that shape exists, look at it and
ask yourself… What shape does that look like?…a “puppy face”,
the number “7″, the letter “B”?
Then…Step 3:
Begin drawing the shape piece by piece, recording
a single angle and a single point at a time, like it were a
web of points that you would connect point by
point, relating the last one to the next.
This is connect the dots 101.

Important Note:
If you feel anxiety creep up from that critical voice in your
mind, just take a deep breath and hold up a quick plum line.
That is… look how one point would line up with
another if you put a perfectly straight line up next to
it…
Use a pencil if you have to. Just hold it straight
out in front of ya.
then compare what you have on your paper. This will make
sure that you are on the right track.
Keep Drawing,
